YouTube recently introduced a new feature in Channel Analytics. The video comparison feature enables you to compare how different videos on your channel have performed over time. It will make it easier for you to see what’s working on your channel and what’s not.
Here’s what you need to know about the new video comparison feature.
You can compare your video’s performance over specific amounts of time.
This feature pulls together data regarding each video’s performance over a specific amount of time. That way, you can clearly see how any changes you made, such as a new thumbnail template or a modified upload schedule, impacted the success of a video. However, you can’t set the time periods you want to compare.
There are three pre-set time slots you can choose from. First, you can compare how your videos performed the first twenty-four hours after they were uploaded. Secondly, you can compare their performance during their first seven days on the platform. Finally, you can compare how your videos did during the first twenty-eight days they were live.
It’s only available in desktop mode.
You can only access the video comparison feature in desktop mode. This means that you’ll need to use a desktop computer or a laptop. The feature won’t be available on your phone or through the YouTube Studio app.
To find the feature in desktop mode, first navigate to your Channel Analytics. Then, click on “advanced mode” in the top right corner. Next, select “compare to” in the top right corner of the new window. Then, click on “first 24 hours video performance.” Finally, in the drop-down menu under “period since published,” you can choose the time frame you want to explore.
It compares all of your highest and lowest-performing videos at once.
The graph that appears will automatically compare your top and bottom videos from that time period. Each dot represents a different video. You can hover over each dot to see which video it represents.
Below the chart, you can find a summary of analytics next to each video. If you can’t see them, toggle the arrow next to the category you want to look at. If you want to dive deeper into a specific video’s analytics, then you can simply click on that video.
