Jon Cozart, who is better known as Paint, stumbled onto YouTube stardom almost overnight. He came up with a few unique video ideas in his middle school days. The teacher asked Jon’s class to write a paper about history. Cozart decided he wanted to turn it into a video, which tanked.
He continued making videos throughout high school, but his videos only got about 200 or so views. Not knowing what he was doing wrong, he decided to do a video of “Harry Potter in 99 Seconds.” This video got one million views in one week!
In one week, he became a professional YouTube star and comedian. Here is the video that brought him into the limelight.

1. Base your videos on well-known stories.
Jon Cozart took well-known stories and put his own spin on them. He asked what happened after happily-ever-after. He retold a series of books in 60 seconds. He made videos about politics, gaming, and Disney movies.

2. Captivate your viewers within the first ten seconds.
There are many videos out there on the YouTube that are boring, and people will click away after a few seconds. Don’t give people a reason to click away.

3. Technology is constantly advancing, so study up on it!
Technology used to make videos extremely hard to create. One had to have a degree in electronics and work at creating videos for years. Today, however, you can create a video in a matter of minutes.
To stay ahead of the game, keep yourself up-to-date on all of the latest trends in technology. Try your hand at 360 video or stop motion so that you always have something new to offer your viewers.
