YouTube was founded in 2005 and by 2006/2007, Philip DeFranco was already a well-known YouTube personality, even reaching 1.8 million views on a video in 2007. DeFranco posted videos talking about different subjects, which turned into him talking about gossip and news.
That was more than ten years ago, and now DeFranco is one of the biggest names on YouTube, with a personal channel that has over five million subscribers and 1.7 billion views.
Here are some reasons Philip DeFranco has maintained his success over the years.
1. He is honest about what he thinks.
The Philip DeFranco Show, his main channel, posts videos about current news, politics, celebrity gossip, etc and how DeFranco feels about these issues. Instead of trying to make his audience happy, though, he is very honest about the subjects and says exactly how he feels about them.
2. He does more than just one kind of video.
Though his news channel is his most successful, DeFranco has other channels including SourceFed and TheDeFrancoFam, a vlog about his family (wife and kid) that his wife usually runs.
Both of these channels are highly successful and give his viewers the chances to watch other types of videos.
3. He runs multiple channels for different kinds of content.
As mentioned above, DeFranco has another channel called SourceFed (as well as the sister channel SourceFedNerd). This channel was created by DeFranco in 2012 and has reached over one million subscribers. The channel, which includes several YouTube hosts, post videos about anything and everything.
Philip DeFranco was around when YouTube started, is still around today, and has the potential to be around for a while. He does this because he is completely honest about his views, which people like, he posts different content, and because he was able to launch and run a different successful channel that has its own following.
