Ed Sheeran hasn’t released a new single for a few months, but he did just drop a new music video that he couldn’t help but share with his fans. The video for “Bibia Be Ye Ye” got almost three million views within twenty-four hours of being uploaded.
Here’s how Ed’s new video got so many views in a single day.
1. He surprised fans with something that they weren’t expecting.
Because “Galway Girl” was so popular when Ed’s third album came out in March, it was no surprise when the song was chosen as his next single. Fans knew there was only a matter of time before Ed dropped a music video for “Galway Girl.”
However, when it came to “Bibia Be Ye Ye,” no one expected there to be a video. The song wasn’t one of the more popular tracks off the new album, but Ed knew that his fans would love the video regardless.
2. He shared the meaning behind the video in an Instagram post.
Ed didn’t post a word about the new video until the day it debuted. He shared the story behind the video on Instagram. In the post, Ed explained that, while the song wasn’t his new single, the video celebrated the Ghanaian people who inspired his track.
Since it's summer I wanted to put out a video for Bibia Be Ye Ye that was made by a fantastic director called @GyoGyimah and all filmed in Ghana. I visited Ghana last year to make music with @fuseodg and @killbeatzgh, and whilst there was exposed to such wonderful culture, food, music and scenery. Me and Fuse wanted to showcase all of these things in a music video to show off the beauty of it. This isn't a single, but it's the summer, and why not have a summer song come out with a feel good video for people to enjoy. It's on YouTube now, just search Ed Sheeran – Bibia Be Ye Ye. And make sure you visit Ghana, it's incredible. Enjoy the video !x
3. The video itself is visually stunning.
Ed himself barely appears in the music video. Instead, the director kept the focus on Ghana and the incredible people who live there. The camera gives the viewer a first-person perspective as he or she explores the town that Ed visited while collecting inspiration for his new album.
Ed Sheeran’s new music video for “Bibia Be Ye Ye” came as a surprise, but millions of viewers are already loving it nonetheless.
