Having perfect dialogue in your videos is something that seems easy to achieve, but more difficult behind the scenes. A lot of new YouTubers just “wing it” and end up heavily editing their videos because they have so many mistakes.
If you want to learn how to have engaging and clear dialogue in your videos, use these tips.
1. Have an interesting personality.
Viewers dislike watching someone with a boring personality. When a viewer clicks on your video, they expect to be entertained. Finding your on-camera personality will help achieve interesting and clear dialogue.
The more personality you have, viewers will listen to what you’re saying. Find out if your energetic, funny, or even sarcastic; and take that personality and engage it through your dialogue.
2. Know your topic.
Whatever your content is based on, it’s important to know what you’re talking about! If you make fashion videos, research up on fashion trends. If you like to talk about politics, keep up with the latest presidential debates.
Although your opinion is important, it’s equally important to give real information. Your viewers will find you credible when you do a bit of research, and your dialogue will go a lot smoother.
3. Write a script.
To achieve great dialogue, sometimes it’s best to write a script. This makes your video more structured and well thought out.
Having a script doesn’t mean you have to memorize every word, but it can be a great backup for when you get stuck. If you have a script, remember to still have a conversational tone. A script is suppose to be a guideline, not make you sound robotic.
A goal as a YouTuber is to engage your audience. As long as you find your on-camera personality, research your content, and create a scripted guideline, you will interest your audience right away!
