About Ben Davis:
Ben Davis is an up and coming artist, whose music is a mix of pop, dance, and R&B. Born to an African American mother and a German/Irish father, he grew up listening to a wide range of music – from Motown to Bach. Ben is no stranger to the spotlight, having performed the national anthem for the Los Angeles Lakers, Clippers, and Dodgers. As a member of the LA Allstars band, he had the opportunity to tour internationally, sharing the stage with well-known artists including Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera. Now, Ben is focusing on his solo career. He has already released two singles: “One More Day” and “Mind Games.” Ben Davis certainly has a bright future ahead of him.
How He Got Started:
At age 4, Ben started singing at school choirs and talent shows. It wasn’t until his college years at UCLA that he landed his first professional gig, singing Philosophy, written by One Republic’s Ryan Tedder. Ben was also a member of the boy band Central Avenue, which was produced by Grammy winning producer Greg Lawson. After the group broke up, Ben joined the LA All-stars and had the opportunity to tour with them internationally. During his time with band, he was able to refine his performance skills. He had performed at legendary venues including House of Blues, Austin City Limits, and the MGM Grand. While touring with the LA Allstars, Ben also auditioned for singing shows, including American Idol. He would make it through multiple rounds of auditions, but would get eliminated soon after. Ben grew tired on waiting for “celebrity judges” to decide the fate of his career, so he took matters into his own hands, and began to focus on his solo career.
Advice For Up and Coming Artists:
I think the best advice I could give anyone following their ‘dream’ or a creative path is to BElieve in YOUrself! Did you see the encoded message? The best way to believe in yourself is to BE YOU. I think so many new artists try to sound like someone else and some songwriters don’t write from the heart or what they are actually experiencing, but rather what is the trend at that particular moment. I was in a ‘boy-band’ for two years of my life where I wasn’t allowed to write or really give any suggestions whatsoever on the direction of the band. We had so much talent among the four guys but it was wasted and never cultivated properly… what isn’t wasted is the energy you put into every opportunity, whether it proves successful or to be a failure. Ultimately hard work and perseverance pays off. I recently received songwriting royalty money from Italy, I don’t’ know how or where my song “Mind Games” was used, but it could very well be attributed to my connection with Promolta who promoted my video worldwide. Take every opportunity and put your heart and soul into it… you never know which one will be the one that takes you that much closer to your goal.
