Twenty One Pilots is an American musical duo originating from Columbus, Ohio. They put out two self-released albums, Twenty One Pilots in 2009 and Regional at Best in 2011, before being signed by Fueled by Ramen in 2012. Their label debut, Vessel, was released in 2013.
Here’s how Twenty One Pilots became a hit band.
1. Their songs are meaningful.
Tyler is an amazing lyricist, and when he sings, people listen. He pours his heart and soul into each song. His lyrics also address serious topics in society and encourage people to take control of their inner demons.
Twenty One Pilot’s lyrics are what bands should strive for these days.
2. They started from the bottom.
Twenty One Pilots weren’t always performing in front of big audiences. They went from twelve people in “Ode To Sleep” to hundreds at concerts. They became the biggest band ever to explode out of a music-obsessed college town, making their name with the genre-defying smash “Stressed Out.”
3. Their music videos are amazing.
If you’ve watched a Twenty One Pilots music video, then you’ll know that they are really entertaining. Sometimes they are fun, catchy, and real, like with the songs “Guns For Hands” and “Car Radio.” They make you think and rock out.
4. They are both really good instrumentalist
With Tyler on the piano and sometimes ukulele and Josh on drums, Twenty One Pilots express just how good they are as a band. Tyler alone is a multi instrumentalist and is good with the instruments he uses. Josh is crazy on the drums, and the two always find a way to match each others’ sounds.
5. Tyler and Josh are entertaining on stage.
Twenty One Pilots always give a performance of a lifetime, interacting with the crowd throughout. From running around the pit to playing the drums on top of the crowd, Twenty One Pilots’ shows are highly exhilarating.
Twenty One Pilots became a hit band by working their way up from the bottom. Follow in their footsteps to start climbing the music ladder yourself.
