How This Comedy Channel Got 3.3 Billion Total Views

In 2010, YouTubers and comedians Nice Peter and EpicLLOYD decided to make videos about historical figures rapping against each other. Since then, Epic Rap Battles of History has reached 14.1 million subscribers and over 3.3 billion views, making them the 30th most subscribed channel on YouTube. How did these two make history so entertaining?

Here are a few reasons they are successful.

1. Their lyrics are creative.

Fans continue to come back for more because Nice Peter and EpicLLOYD are amazing at writing lyrics. They make sure that they know the two (or more) characters that are rapping in the video and turn their accomplishments (and the other’s mistakes) into a beautiful rap.

2. They bring in special guests to perform.

Though the videos were originally just Nice Peter and EpicLLOYD, growing in fame allowed them to bring in more people to help with videos. They have had appearances from Timothy DeLaGhetto, George Watsky, Rhett and Link, Snoop Dogg, T-Pain, Key and Peele, and more.

3. They get their ideas from fans.

At the end of each episode, they ask who the fans want next. In the comments, fans give their ideas of who they want to be in the next video, and those comments are used in deciding who it will be. Fans love having the chance to decide what is in videos.

Epic Rap Battles of History grew in size because the videos are almost always entertaining, they bring in special guests that fans love to see, and they ask the fans who they want to see. Fans are always waiting to see who will be next.
