How These Bands Found Success With Singing Competitions

Singing competitions such as The X Factor, The Voice, and American Idol are known to be great platforms to aid new artists into the music industry. Many winners and runner-ups are given the opportunity to sign to a successful record label.

Here are some examples of bands that were introduced by X Factor.

1. Fifth Harmony began as five solo artists.

Each member is originally introduced as solo artists, but the famous girl group is soon formed during the second season of The X Factor USA by the judges. After finishing in third place in the singing competition, Fifth Harmony quickly debuted their first album Better Together.

With Reflection and 7/27, their later albums, being a huge success, Fifth Harmony earns the title as being one of the greatest girl bands over the past years

2. One Direction got a ton of media coverge.

With a similar backstory as Fifth Harmony, One Direction was also founded and discover on The X Factor UK by judge Simon Cowell. One Direction finished in second place, but the band is known to have received the most media attention out of all the other contestants in X Factor history.

The boy band has won a limitless number of awards, as they continue to attract a younger, mostly female, fanbase.

3. Little Mix won the competition as a group.

Little Mix is a British girl band formed in 2011 by X Factor UK. The group became the first band in X Factor history to ever win first place. Little Mix is often compared to the success of the Spice Girls and Girls Aloud.

The four-member group has won several awards including Band of the Year in the Glamor Women of the Year and Teen’s Choice Breakout Artists in 2015.

Many great groups got their start on singing competitions such as the X Factor. Many countries have both televised and local music competitions. Auditioning for one just might be your chance at stardom.
