By default, YouTube gives you a very long and meaningless channel URL. You need to acquire a custom URL to establish a consistent branding for your channel.
Earlier YouTube required creators to have at least 500 subscribers to get a custom URL. Now the numbers have dropped to 100.
Get a custom URL to make it easy for fans to remember, type and share your YouTube channel with their networks.
Follow these steps to get a custom URL for your YouTube channel:
1. Go to your advanced account settings.
2. Under Channel Settings, select the link to claim your custom YouTube channel URL.
3. YouTube will display the Custom URL(s) in the Get a Custom URL box. You don’t have the option to change these URLs. However, you can add a few letters or numbers as a suffix to make the URL unique.
4. Check the box beside I agree to the Terms of Service. Then click Change URL.
5. Be sure of the URL you want and then click Confirm choice. You cannot request to change your URL once it is approved. The URL you choose will be linked to both your YouTube channel and Google+ account.
Note that only channels that meet the eligibility requirements will be able to claim a custom URL. Below are the eligibility requirements you need to meet:
- Your account must be in good standing.
- You need to have at least 100 subscribers.
- Your channel needs to be at least 30 days old.
