4 Interesting Lessons from Lady Gaga

At Promolta we do a lot of case studies about successful creators and share key lessons.

Today’s subject is Lady Gaga. She has 24M YouTube subscribers, 17B lifetime views and a $150M net worth.

Here are 4 important lessons from her success.

1. Don’t listen to doubters

You have to be mentally tough and not get discouraged when folks don’t believe in you. For example Lady Gaga was signed to Def Jam in September 2006 and DROPPED 3 months later. Meaning this is a creator who currently has billions of YouTube views and 13 grammy awards, yet the label didn’t see it.

2. Push boundaries

The best way to get noticed on YouTube is to be different. The more you differentiate yourself, the more viral you will be. This is why Lady Gaga always does crazy things in her videos. For example most of her videos are futuristic and always include outlandish outfits. Sometimes she might wear a latex dress, a braw which shoots sparkles, an outfit made of spikes, or a dress made out of raw beef.

3. Have a look

Every creator should have some trademark look. This is good because fans get used to you looking a certain way and can instantly recognize you. For example Lady Gaga ONLY wore 1 of 3 outfits for 5 years (see here). Meaning that’s only 3 outfits for 5 YEARS so fans can instantly recognize her. Thus, create some unique look for yourself and stick to it.

4. Protect your creativity

The more creative you are, the better videos you will produce. In order to be more creative … Lady Gaga does NOT read the news or watch TV (see here). She sees all that stuff as noise. Thus, if you want to be more creative, cut down the noise.

Never give up.
