1. Dhadd
This hourglass-shaped drum is native to Punjab. The skin on either side of held tightly in place by ropes. The high-pitched beat is perfect for a techno song.
2. Chikara
This bow stringed instrument is used mainly in Indian folk music. It is played by sliding fingers along the strings rather than by pressing them to the fingerboard. The chikara’s unique sound will bring new life to a singer/songwriter track.
3. Pepa
The pepa is a traditional instrument that is typically made from a buffalo horn. It is a hornpipe from Assam. Try it in a hiphop song!
4. Ekkalam
This aerophone is a large brass tube with a bell at one end. It is mainly played in celebrations. The ekkalam could bring a rock song to a whole new level.
