What Makes Leah Capelle’s Music Stand Out

Indie rocker Leah Capelle isn’t into your typical, cookie-cutter pop star stuff. Rather, her brand of singer-songwriter is something totally new and totally refreshing. This is the kind of music that stands out on the radio.

Here’s what makes Leah Capelle’s music stand out.

1. She studied music before pursuing it as a career.

Before moving to the West Coast to pursue her career as a singer-songwriter, Leah attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston. However, her musical studies began well before college, because Leah has been performing and studying music from a very young age.

She started learning piano at six and began writing songs at only eight. By the time she was ten, Leah was taking professional voice lessons with Janice Pantezelos of the Chicago Studio of Professional Singing.

Now, this Chicago native is rocking the entire country with incredible tracks like “Would You Know.”

2. She recorded her freshman EP with a Grammy-winning producer.

Before recording with Leah, Grammy-winning producer Jeff Bova worked with artists such as Meatloaf, Blondie, and Celine Dion. Together, they wove the masterpiece that is Leah’s self-titled debuted EP, Leah Capelle.

Now, Leah Capelle and Jeff Bova are working together once again on Leah’s sophomore EP, Joshua. This album follows Leah’s emotional journey after a personal tragedy she experienced in 2014.

The new music video for the EP’s title track is absolutely stunning.

3. She has an incredible team behind her.

In 2015, Leah formed the kind of band that every artist dreams of. Already, they have played at SXSW and collaborated with Rob Lewis, Arden Kaywin, and Pam Sheyne.

On lead guitar is Will Wu, who has recorded and performed with a wide range of artists such as Fifth Harmony and Big Sean. Upright and electric bassist Rodrigo Moreno has more than ten years of experience and a Bachelor of Music degree from the California State University at Northridge. Drummer Hayley Brownell also received a degree in music from California State University Northridge, and she has an endorsement with TRX Cymbals. Guitarist Michael O’Grady attended Musicians Institute and has worked with American Idol‘s Randy Jackson.

Leah and her extremely talented band enjoy touring and working together.
