The music industry is in constant flux, and huge names can rise from small beginnings quickly. While it is impossible to know for sure who will become a household name in the next few years, here are some artists that definitely have a long career in music ahead of them.
1. Bryson Tiller
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Bryson Tiller started his career in 2011 when he released the mixtape Killer Instinct Vol.1. Tiller gained recognition following the digital release of his debut single “Don’t” on Soundcloud.
Tiller is a great example of someone who has used the internet to their advantage. Most people don’t have the reputation to release physical albums, so places like Soundcloud give you a place to put your work.
In an interview with Vibe Tiller explained, “If they wanted to hear the growth in my music then I think my first mixtape would definitely show them how far I’ve come.”
2. Sigala
Bruce Fielder, or Sigala, is a British DJ, record producer, and remixer from Norwich, Norfolk. He is best known for his 2015 debut single “Easy Love.” It debuted at number 71 on the UK Singles Chart.
Sigala is definitely a rising star we will see more of. His hit track came to him out of a desire to create music for himself outside of the confines of “somebody asking me to create a song that had a certain sound to it or had to be a certain way.”
Sigala shows how even small musicians should be free to experiment and make the music they want to make.
3. BJ the Chicago Kid
Bryan James Sledge’s career in the music industry began with a Dave Hollister record in 2001, titled “For You,” which he co-wrote alongside Gerald Haddon. He went on to work with big names such as Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Kendrick Lamar, and Jay Rock.
He has also worked with several other prominent rappers, such as Freddie Gibbs, Warren G, Big K.R.I.T., GLC and Kanye West.
BJ the Chicago Kid still hasn’t become a household name, but as his career shows, he has the placement in the industry to become huge.
